Two gorgeous 2009 Szpilman Award candidates:
The runner-up, Alexander Thieme with his Embedded
... and this year's winner, Hank Schmidt in der Beek, with In den Zillertaler Alpen
Can you spot me?
What am I, within this overwhelming sight?
Am I a humble creature? Do I not see myself?
Or is it but a false humility, a false erasing of the onlooker's look?

I was told twice in the last two days that one should not make art in anyone else's name but her own.
You want it - you have it.
Hank Schmidt In Der Beek, you have just made my day.
Other candidates can be found here. Also check out their blog.

That video was so amazing, and very inspiring.
I love the pictures as well.

My God, he made my day too.
Very interesting. Redefinition of the landscape, form of art that sometime seems not so actual.
Love this.
Hilarious images!
Cool video and a very clever idea of becoming the landscape. I love how Hank Schmidt has become part of the landscape and paints his shirt patterns.

I was really impressed by the new art blog. There is very little to line the arts but your site has done this beautifully. I think that the modern dance photos are very telling. You can see the determination on the dancers faces. Performance art seems light years away from the arts of painting and drawing yet all is related under the Arts umbrella. It seems that there are more ways to be a good art buyer and seller online .
I have to let you know that I giggled at the tongue in cheek artist with the inglorious red gingham shirt busily painting red gingham on his canvas. I also loved when he wore his snappy yellow checked shirt, while, rendering sunny yellow checks on his canvas. Can you see me indeed? Great little site for stirring the creative juices. You have your finger on just about anything that is art related. Good Job!
So impressed by this blog.
These artists absolutely made my day... And the desktop of my computer.
I like both the video and the pictures. Especially the pictures, it is something I've never seen before, but I certainly like it :)
